New Project: The Barbarian Group, New York
For the awesome Barbarian Group in New York, CWa are creating an undulating 'endless table' to serve their 125 employees in an open work space that stretches across a city block. The table surface is resin coated and finished like a surfboard, with a plywood substructure that lifts the table over circulation aisles and shelters informal meeting spaces. Completion is targeted for the end of 2013.
New Associate Principal
The firm is pleased to announce the recent appointment of Brad Carpenter, AIA, LEED AP to the position of Associate Principal and project Director. Brad has over 27 years of experience, most recently at AC Martin Partners. He will help lead the management of the Los Angeles office, and is Project Director for the Santa Monica College AET Campus, Intuit and Funny or Die projects.
With an engineering background, he has specialized in the thorough integration of all technical aspects of projects in design, including LEED and CHPS criteria. His past experience includes work on award winning Commercial Highrise & Hotel developments in Los Angeles, Higher Educational Student Centers, Performing Arts, Classroom and Science facilities, Business Schools and K-12 Educational campuses, having previously worked at HGA and Hardy Holzman Pfeiffer. He enjoys mentoring younger professionals, and has been a long distance runner for many years.
Fox Head and 'Never Built: Los Angeles' Exhibition nominated for Interior Design Best Of Year Awards
Two of our projects have been nominated for Interior Design magazine's 2013 'Best of Year' Awards: Never Built: Los Angeles in the Exhibition category, and Fox Head in the office category.
CWa are delighted to announce the promotion of Chester Nielsen to the position of Associate. Chester guides visioning, design development, design coordination and project implementation for CWa. He collaborates with the client and project team to realize the conceptual vision of the design director. Through his love of process, he engages clients in a robust and iterative dialogue about project design goals and their creative solutions.
Prior to joining Clive Wilkinson Architects, he worked for Richard Meier, Martha Schwartz and Frank Gehry. His experience in a large number of completed projects exposed him to all types of practice from Corporate, Cultural and Interiors, to Urban and Landscape design, throughout the US, Europe, Asia and the UAE. Since he joined CWa, he has collaborated on several projects such as the Macquarie Bank headquarters in Sydney, the Fox Head offices in Irvine, California and the headquarters for both Gerson Lehrman Group and The Barbarian Group in New York City.

Award-winning interior designer Clive Wilkinson talks about creative collaboration
National Design Award winner Clive Wilkinson is an architect, designer, writer and strategist with particular expertise in the application of urban design thinking to interior design, specifically in workplace and educational communities. He's created unique spaces for Google, Nokia, JWT and Disney. In 2005, Clive was inducted into the Interior Design Hall of Fame. In 2006, he was named as a Master of Design by Fast Company magazine and, in 2011, a Pioneer of Design by IIDA.
Join Clive and guest Rosemarie Ryan, former co-president of JWT and co-founder and CEO of Co:, an advertising and branding agency, as they discuss the role of collaboration in designing for creative work environments, in a conversation led by Cooper-Hewitt's Acting Director, Caroline Baumann.
Clive Wilkinson elected to The College of Fellows of the American Institute of Architects
On January 31, the American Institute of Architects announced that Clive Wilkinson has been elected to The College of Fellows of the American Institute of Architects! This prestigious honor was awarded to Clive by The Jury of Fellows due to his notable contributions to the advancement of profession of architecture. The investiture Ceremony will be held at the AIA National Convention in Denver, Colorado on June 21, 2013.

CWA at the 2012 Cooper-Hewitt National Design Awards Ceremony
Earlier this year, Clive Wilkinson Architects received the 2012 Cooper-Hewitt National Design Award in Interior Design. In October, Clive Wilkinson accepted the prestigious award at the Awards Gala on the Hudson River in New York City.

New School Lecture
Clive Wilkinson shall be presenting a lecture to the New School of Architecture and Design in San Diego on November 14, 2012. The lecture, titled "The Architecture of the Large Organization" will address emerging paradigms in the evolution of the modern workplace, under pressure from massive techno-socio-cultural challenges, and how these developments may shape new forms of community. The talk will be illustrated with examples of how these are interpreted within the architecture and design work of our firm, Clive Wilkinson Architects.
Macquarie Group appoints CWA for new headquarters
Following on from our successful Shelley Street, Sydney and Ropemaker, London office projects, CWA, supported by the excellent Australian firm of BVN, are collaborating with Johnson Pilton Walker (JPW) to design their new 200,000 sq. ft. Sydney headquarters. JPW are renovating and expanding the 1927 Beaux Arts heritage bank building on Sydney's prestigious Martin Place, and CWA are designing an ambitious 'connected' workplace for 2,000 people around an enlarged 10-storey atrium.

Haworth showroom for Neocon 2011
Following the success of our 2010 design, Haworth, the global furniture company, invited Clive Wilkinson Architects to design their 2011 Chicago showroom. The new 25,000 SF showroom promotes the idea of ‘design freedom’, facilitated by Haworth's extensive expertise and product offering.
