09 Sep Introducing Seaview Homes
After the Palisades and Altadena fires swept through Los Angeles in early 2025, destroying thousands of homes, our firm, like many others, was looking for a way to help. A couple who had lost their home of 35 years in the Sunset Mesa neighborhood reached out and asked if we could help them and their neighbors leverage economies of scale to achieve affordable rebuilding costs.
As a pro-bono initiative, we convened a series of virtual meetings with the Sunset Mesa community, exploring the best way to help the neighborhood rebuild good homes quickly, at the best prices possible. We reviewed all options, including prefab and modular, finally determining that conventional building would be the most cost-effective and efficient method. In order to advance the necessary detailed design work, 15 homeowners signed on as stakeholders, funding development and helping to shape four standard house plans.
Our search for a builder partner led us to Comstock Homes, a trusted name in high-quality construction for over 35 years, and our Sunset Mesa rebuild collaboration became Seaview Homes. Today we are able to offer high-quality, fire resilient, cost-efficient designs specially tailored for the Sunset Mesa community, considering their specific lot sizes and preserving their sea views.
Four home types are available in single-story and two-story split-level forms, offering varying sizes, finishes, and price points. We are delighted that the first 15 Stakeholder homes are entering production now, while Seaview Homes is reaching out to neighbors to offer rebuilding in a second wave.
